British comedian Russell Brand has quit his B-B-C radio show (AP)

(The Associated Press) LONDON _ Brand’s resignation came after he and fellow performer Jonathan Ross were suspended indefinitely for leaving lewd messages on the voicemail of a 78-year-old actor.
Their calls to actor Andrew Sachs — best known for playing Spanish waiter Manuel in the 1970s British comdey “Fawlty Towers” — have drawn more than 18-thousand complaints.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown called the comments “inappropriate and unacceptable.”
In the messages, the pair claimed Brand had slept with Sachs’ granddaughter and joked that Sachs might hang himself as a result of the news.
The duo made further calls to Sachs in which they tried to apologize but continued to blurt out lewd messages.
The calls were recorded on October 16th and aired on Brand’s radio show two days later.

Re: Is the economy affecting your sex life?

How the Economy Is Affecting Your Pants
Relationship sex is down, cheating is up.
By Vanessa Richmond (Tyee.ca)

Softening up, crashing, going down, failing to launch, losing firmness — it seems sex and money, or at least libido and the economy, have more in common than language.

In “Sexual Recession” in Forbes this week, Dr. Ruth cautions that people anxious about diminishing investments or “looming pink slips should turn their attention to a side effect of the present economic tsunami: the way it’s washing away the love lives of couples caught up in the rushing waters. Stress, depression and anxiety all wreak havoc on the libido.”

Sarah McLachlan to kick-off Olympic one-year countdown concert in February

VANCOUVER – Canadian songstress Sarah McLachlan will headline a kick-off concert for the one-year countdown party for the 2010 Winter Olympics.
The show will be part of the 2009 Cultural Olympiad, the second of three arts and music festivals being put on by Vancouver Olympic organizers.
Other performers for 2009 will be Toronto’s Broken Social Scene and the Calgary-born duo Tegan and Sara.
The festival will run from February 1 to March 21 next year. Tickets for the Feb. 12 concert featuring McLachlan will go on sale Nov. 1.
Funding for the Olympiad comes in part from provincial governments who have signed contributing agreements with the Games that also give them the opportunity to showcase artists from their region.
Vancouver 2010 organizers say there will also be an online collaborative art project as part of a digital edition of the Cultural Olympiad, so that Canadians everywhere can participate.

Re: MTV’s new music video website

MTV launched, Hulu, a website on streaming music video, tv shows, and offering some exclusives such as live performances and interviews. What makes Hulu different?  It’s high-quality and full length.  tho, if you don’t live in the US, you can’t access the site (just yet).  Will this new website steal YouTube viewers?

Re: Glitterize your Pumpkin!!!

I’m challenged when it comes to carving a pumpkin, so hear is an idea this year, use GLITTER.  Micheal Jackson’s Thiller meets Carrie Bradshaw.  Sarah Jessica Parker bought a few of these squashes from Ovando, a NYC-based floral design company.

Re: Russel Brand is in deep waters

UK comedian Russel Brand (who also hosted MTV’s Video Music Awards earlier this year) has gotten himself in the hotseat over a prank call.   Brand and co-host Jonathan Ross called and left a voice mail for veteran British actor, Andrew Sachs, during their Saturday night BBC radio show. A message told by Ross that Brand “fucked his granddaughter,” Georgina Baillie,23, a model and performer with burlesque dance group Satanic Sluts.   Brand apologized to Sachs, as he was apparently deeply embarrassed.  Ofcom (an independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries) is launching an investigation into Brand’s prank telephone call to the British actor on his show.
